Welcome to ArendsAroundTheWorld

Hello everyone!

It has been a pretty wild first week in my new home. I unexpectedly had to travel to Nairobi for work, so I will be based out of here for the time being. Fortunately, another Princeton in Africa Fellow is here! It was a fantastic first weekend in Nairobi with so many cool experiences in just the first few days.

I had no idea what to expect coming to Nairobi. The only thing I heard about it was it is the tech hub of East Africa meaning way more modern than Dar es Salaam. I can say that is very true. It is definitely a thriving city with a much faster pace of life. Nairobi is a city of about 3.5 million people with cultural influences from all over the world!

The food is incredible, the nightlife is very fun with massive, open-air bars and clubs, and so much greenery. There are several forests right within the city limits that allows for an easy escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and pollution that comes with a city trying to modernize.

It has been hard to focus on the blog given the recent move, but there will be a few blogs coming online this week from my first week in Dar so be on the outlook for those! I will also be putting several out about my first weekend in Nairobi, so stay tuned for those as well!

As for now, Nairobi is my new home!
